Shereen Alavian, MD, MPH

Pediatrics, board certified

Dr. Alavian joined our practice in mid July.  She earned both her medical degree and her Master’s in Public Health from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. She was a Pediatric Resident at the Holtz Children’s Hospital, University of Miami Health System and speaks Spanish.  Dr. Alavian is also certified by the American Board of Pediatrics.  She has earned several honors including the Senior Resident Teaching Excellence Award from the Holtz Children’s Hospital Department of Pediatrics (2012-2013), the UNC School of Medicine Davis Award for Pediatrics (2012), and was twice a UNC School of Medicine Larry D. Keith Scholar Medical Alumni Loyalty Fund Scholarship recipient (2007-2008 and 2009-2010).


Raid Kamil, MD

Pediatrics, board certified

Dr. Kamil joined our practice on June 16, 2014.  He is a diplomate of the American Board of Pediatrics and earned his medical degree at the University of Graz, Austria, where he also completed his residency.  He completed his pediatric residency at the Marshfield Clinic, St. Joseph’s Hospital Pediatrics Residency Program and has been certified by the American Board of Pediatrics.  Additionally, he has served as a Research Fellow with the University of Alabama at Birmingham on four research projects.  He is fluent in English, German and Arabic.


Michael Knudsen, MD

Pediatrics, board certified

Dr. Knudsen joined us during June 2013 as a board certified pediatrician.  He earned his medical degree at the University of Missouri, and completed his residency at the St. Louis University School of Medicine.

Marsha Russell, MD

Pediatrics & Pediatric Infectious Disease, board certified

Dr. Russell is a pediatrician who is board certified in both pediatrics and pediatric infectious disease. She earned her medical degree from the University of West Indies and completed her residency at Yale University School of Medicine. She earned her fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.

Beverly Yearwood, MD

Pediatrics, board certified

Dr. Yearwood is a board-certified pediatrician who join us in June 2008.  She earned her medical degree from the Morehouse School of Medicine and completed her residency at Orlando Regional Medicine.  Dr. Yearwood has always participated in national health service corps to provide care in under served areas. 

Michelle Messer, CPNP

Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner

Michelle Messer has been a certified pediatric nurse practitioner with Premiere Pediatrics since April 2008.  She worked as an RN at Duke Medical Center from 1992 to 1999.  Afterwards she was a PNP at Catawba Pediatrics in Hickory, NC from 1999 to 2002.  For 5 years she worked as a PRN in the newborn nursery at Harnett Health, eventually taking a full-time position at Premiere Pediatrics when the practice opened.  She graduated from the UNC Chapel Hill Graduate School for Nursing, where she also completed her undergraduate education.
