What to Expect During Your Exam:

The process of a 3D Mammography exam is the same as a conventional 2D exam. The Harnett Health Breast Care Center technologist will position you, compress your breast, and take images from different angles.

There’s no additional compression of the breast during a 3D Mammography Exam and the patient experience is virtually the same as a 2D Mammography.

Once the exam is complete, the technologist will view the images of your breasts at the computer workstation to ensure quality images have been captured for review. A radiologist will then examine the images gathered from the exam and report the results to either your physician or directly to you.
