Benjamin Petty, MD CAQSM specializes in non-surgical orthopedics, orthobiologics, sports medicine and sports concussion management. He completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC. As a student, he played Division I basketball for the NC State Wolfpack. Following his undergraduate degree, Dr. Petty completed his Doctor of Medicine degree at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, TN. Dr. Petty went on to complete a Family Medicine Residency at University of South Alabama. Immediately following his residency, he completed a Sports Medicine Fellowship at the renowned Campbell Clinic in Memphis and obtained additional training at the Mayo Clinic and the Orthobiologic Institute. He has served as a team physician for multiple high school and college teams, and also worked with professional athletes of the Memphis Grizzlies in the NBA, the Memphis Redbirds, and the Durham Bulls.

The nonsurgical options he provides for patients include Orthobiologics {PRP(Platelet Rich Plasma) and Bone Marrow Aspiration Concentrate(BMAC) injections}. PRP and BMAC can be useful for arthritis, tendon/muscle injuries that are acute or chronic. Among those procedures, Dr. Petty also provides Tenex tenotomy for chronic tendonitis (a minimally invasive procedure for eliminating scare tissue), radiofrequency ablation and block for chronic knee pain, hydrodissection, aspiration, percutaneous joint injections, percutaneous fenestration, and diagnostic ultrasound.

Dr. Petty is from Winston-Salem, NC and is married to Dr. Tiffany Petty and they have two sons. Dr. Petty’s wife is a Pediatrician and a Physician Chair at WCG. Dr. Petty likes to spend time with his family, and is involved in church and community activities along with playing basketball, running 5k races, and watching multiple sports.
