Medical Oncology Staff

Front Desk Staff
The access coordinator is your first
contact with the Medical Oncology Department. They will
obtain information from you that will assist the healthcare
providers and they will make sure you are properly registered.
They will also schedule your appointments for follow-up visits,
diagnostic tests and other doctor appointments as requested by
the physician or nurse practitioner. If you have any problems,
they will relay the information to the appropriate staff member
for resolution.

Chemotherapy Nurse
The chemotherapy nurses are all Registered Nurses (RNs)
who hold special Oncology Certifications. The chemotherapy
nurses not only administer your chemotherapy, they also
assist the doctor in managing any symptoms or side effects
of treatment and provide resources for emotional support to
you and your family. If you have any physical or emotional
difficulties during your treatment, please feel free to discuss
them with your nurse.

Clinic Nurses
The Registered Nurses (RN), Licensed Practical Nurses
(LPNs) and Medical Assistants (MAs) in Medical Oncology
help your doctor coordinate your care by monitoring your
weight and vital signs on each visit and reviewing home
medications, allergies and side effects you may be having. They
also assist with examinations, which may be necessary several
times throughout the course of your treatment. In addition,
they assist with special procedures, refill prescriptions and help
in maintaining direct communication with you and other staff
members.

Phlebotomist
The phlebotomist will draw any blood work required for
your treatment. All chemotherapy requires blood work at
certain times during your course of treatment. You will have a
scheduled appointment for your blood work when needed.
