With our health system focused on patients who have developed COVID-19, some people with unrelated, but still urgent/emergent health problems are feeling scared to visit Doctor’s offices and Emergency Departments out of a fear of being infected themselves. Harnett Health wants to reassure our community that we have taken all appropriate steps to make sure that every patient who visits a Harnett Health Hospital or Physician Practice is as safe as they can possibly be.
Here are just some of the steps that we are taking to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in our facilities:
· Cancelling/Postponing elective surgeries
· The use of masks by everyone who is in our facilities.
· Increasing the amount of sanitizer stations available
· Visitor Restrictions (visit our website for the most up to date information)
· Adjustments to cafeterias and food services
Our Hospitals have also made plans to ensure staffing, and the necessary protective equipment are available to keep patients safe in the event of a surge of COVID-19 cases.
Harnett Health understands that in these unprecedented times it can be scary to have to visit an emergency room or a doctor’s office, but people who are experiencing serious medical related issues shouldn’t refrain from seeking professional medical care. All of our medical staff are trained professionals and know how to respond to medical emergencies while keeping patients safe. If you or a loved one is experiencing severe medical symptoms such as chest pain, acute onset of shortness of breath, or acute weakness in an arm or leg you shouldn’t ignore them, call 911 or visit the nearest emergency department.
Just because you aren’t experiencing a medical emergency that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t contact a medical professional. Harnett Health Physician Practices are still open to serve our patients and community for all non-emergent medical needs, a wide variety of cases can be handled over the phone through our tele-doc system that doesn’t even require a visit.
Harnett Health is here for our community when you need us. For a full list of services that are offered, or location information such as phone numbers and addresses please visit: www.myharnetthealth.org/locations<https://myharnetthealth.org/locations
